About Lappvik

Lappvik is a small, family-run farm and experience destination in northern Sweden, surrounded by forests, fields, lakes and the sea.

This is our home, our farm and our everyday life. When you visit Lappvik, we welcome you into that life and share the place with you in a personal and genuine way.

The farm has roots stretching back to the 1600s and is still a living, working farm today. The animals, the land, the food and the seasons are closely connected, and much of life here follows the natural rhythm of the year.

Our sheep graze the land around us, food from the farm becomes part of the meals we serve, and resources are returned to the land whenever possible. We have also welcomed bees to Lappvik to support pollination and biodiversity, while giving us the opportunity to produce our own honey here on the farm.

For us, animal welfare is fundamental. We want to show the value of small-scale food production, where the welfare of the animals, care for the land and respect for nature come first. That is also why we have chosen to be part of an animal welfare programme, strengthening our focus on the health, wellbeing and care of our animals.

Preserving breeds with a history

Among our sheep are Swedish native breeds that are an important part of the country’s agricultural heritage, including breeds that are considered endangered.

Preserving these animals matters to us not only because of their history, but because of the qualities they carry with them.

Breeds such as the Gute sheep have developed over generations to be hardy, independent and well adapted to the landscape and climate. They represent a different way of looking at farming, where rapid growth and maximum production are not the only priorities.

For us, farming is not only about producing as much as possible, as quickly as possible. We value animals that can thrive in their environment, graze the land and remain part of a diverse and resilient farming system.

By keeping and breeding these native sheep, we can also contribute in our own small way to preserving genetic diversity, traditional breeds and knowledge that might otherwise disappear.

More than an activity

Lappvik is also a place for adventure.

Depending on the season, our guests can travel through the winter landscape by snowmobile, fish in quiet waters, experience sauna and ice bathing, spend time around a fire, meet the animals or share a meal connected to the farm and the surrounding landscape.

But for us, the activity itself is only one part of the experience.

Whether we are travelling through the forest, sitting beside a fire or spending time on the farm, we want our guests to feel connected to the place around them.

At Lappvik, being active and finding calm are not opposites. There should be room for adventure and new experiences, but also for quiet moments, real conversations and time to simply be present.

Everything we do is small-scale and personal. We prefer genuine encounters, small groups and experiences that are allowed to follow the place, the people and the season rather than feeling rushed or standardised.

What makes Lappvik different

What makes Lappvik different as a destination is that the farm, the animals, the food, nature and the experiences are all connected.

Our guests are not only invited to take part in activities. They are welcomed into a real place where farming, food production, animals, nature and everyday life are all part of the same story.

When we serve food, we want guests to understand something about where it comes from. When they meet our animals, we want them to see why good animal welfare matters. And when we travel through the landscape, we want them to experience nature not simply as a beautiful backdrop, but as something we depend on and have a responsibility to care for.

A large part of what we do is about creating understanding.

Many people today rarely have the opportunity to come close to farming, food production or the everyday care of animals. By opening our home and our farm to visitors, we can make those connections visible again — between the animal and the food, between the soil and what it produces, between biodiversity and farming, and between the choices we make today and the landscape we leave for the future.

We do not expect everyone who comes to Lappvik to already know about farming or animal welfare.

That is one of the reasons we want to share it.

Why this matters to us

We believe tourism can create more than memories.

It can create curiosity, understanding and respect for a place.

We want Lappvik to show that a small farm can be a place for food production, animal welfare, biodiversity, learning, adventure and hospitality at the same time.

And we want our guests to leave with more than the memory of a snowmobile ride, a meal, an encounter with the animals or an evening by the fire.

We hope they leave with a greater understanding of where food comes from, why animal welfare matters, how closely people, animals and nature are connected — and with the feeling of having been genuinely welcomed into our home.

We also hope they leave with something that is becoming increasingly valuable: a little more calm, a little more connection to nature and perhaps a new way of looking at the world around them.
